\u201cI\u2019ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe\u2026\u201d Forgive the quote, but there is simply no better way to describe the surreal beauty of these extreme landscapes between eastern Ethiopia and Eritrea.<\/p>\n

Our journey begins in tiny Djibouti, a hidden gem of the Horn of Africa far from the usual tourist routes, where extraordinary salt lakes and idyllic islands in the Indian Ocean await us.<\/p>\n

Travelling by 4×4 vehicles alongside local guides, we will venture into the lands of the Afar, the legendary salt nomads, and discover some of the most extraordinary landscapes on Earth: immense salt flats, lava-filled craters, psychedelic volcanic fields, acidic neon-green thermal springs, geysers, and endless desert expanses.<\/p>\n

Lake Assale, Dallol, and Erta Ale may still be unfamiliar names to many, but after this otherworldly expedition, they will remain etched in your memory forever.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

From here, we will travel overland into the Danakil Depression, sleeping in tents and remote Afar villages while crossing the Great Rift Valley, the cradle of humanity.<\/p>\n

The expedition concludes among the rock-hewn churches of Tigray, a region deeply marked by recent conflict. From Mekelle, we will fly to Addis Ababa, carrying with us unforgettable memories of the striking contrasts of the Horn of Africa, from the deep blue waters of the ocean to the fire-and-salt landscapes of the Danakil.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Overland expedition by 4×4 vehicles with local drivers through remote desert regions with very limited tourism infrastructure.<\/p>\n

The itinerary includes a relatively long but technically easy trek on Erta Ale volcano.<\/p>\n

Participants should be prepared for an adventurous travel style, including multiple nights in tents and remote villages, often without running water or modern facilities.<\/p>\n
