The \u201cfinger of Afghanistan\u201d that touches the \u201croof of the world\u201d: the Wakhan Corridor! Once a busy and important route of the Silk Road, traveled and described by Marco Polo, the Wakhan Corridor was created in the late 19th century as a buffer zone in the geopolitical \u201cGreat Game\u201d between the Russian Empire and the British Empire. Today, as in the past, it remains a sparsely populated mountainous region, home to farmers and nomadic shepherds who maintain lifestyles unchanged for centuries. It will be a journey out of time, in one of the most isolated areas in the world, following in the footsteps of great explorers, adventurers, merchants, and spies, through a territory of immense charm and majestic natural beauty<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #d82679;\">The BHS touch<\/span><\/h2>\n<div>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 2\">\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Not only the Wakhan Corridor: starting from Tajikistan, we will have the opportunity to discover its capital Dushanbe and cross the border into Afghanistan overland. Overnight stay in Kunduz.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>DAY 13: <\/strong>morning departure until reaching the infamous Salang Tunnel: built by the Soviets in the 1960s, abandoned and partially destroyed during the Taliban rule of the 1990s, and later rebuilt in 2002, the Salang Tunnel is the backbone of the country\u2019s communications and at the same time a \u201ctrap,\u201d the scene of dark events, from multiple deadly avalanches to Mujahideen ambushes against the Soviets. Arrival in Kabul at the hotel in the evening or possibly even at night<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3>Day 14: Kandahar<\/h3>\n<div>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 14\">\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Morning and afternoon: <\/strong>morning flight from Kabul to Kandahar, the second largest city in Afghanistan, to immerse in its historically rich atmosphere. Visit to some of the main local sites, including the Kandahar Museum, which houses rare works of art, and the Tomb of Ahmad Shah Durrani, founder of modern Afghanistan.<br data-start=\"393\" data-end=\"396\" class=\"\" \/>Next, visit to the Sarposa Bazaar and the Mosque of the Cloak of the Prophet Muhammad, one of the holiest places in the country. Inside it is preserved what is believed to be a cloak worn by the Prophet during his famous night journey. Possibility to shop in one of the many stores along the street, rediscovering, after so much isolation, the chaotic and fascinating vibrancy of Kabul. Lunch in one of the restaurants not far from Chicken Street and subsequent transfer to the airport.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is time to say goodbye to Afghanistan and to our fantastic local team.
