A land of monks and smiles, the last among Southeast Asian countries to open up to tourism and isolated from the outside world for many decades, Myanmar still preserves a traditional soul, closely tied to the strong spirituality of Theravada Buddhism that permeates the country. Our itinerary will begin in the former capital, Yangon, to admire the marvelous golden Shwedagon Pagoda bathed in the sunset light, followed by a boat trip through the pagodas and floating gardens of Inle Lake. We will visit the spectacular and massive temple complex of Bagan before reaching Mandalay, Myanmar’s second-largest city, and the important historic cities nearby. A stunning and still little-known country, inhabited by one of the kindest and most welcoming peoples in the world, where it feels like stepping back in time for an authentic immersion into the heart of Buddhist spirituality.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Travel to a country experiencing strong tensions related to the ongoing civil war. Tourism is virtually non-existent, and the itinerary may be subject to changes due to the current situation. This is a road trip with some relatively long transfers by car\/minivan and one domestic flight; no demanding trekking is planned, except for the 777 steps that lead us to Mount Popa.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
