PAKISTAN: KARAKORUM BY BEDFORD AND KALASH<\/h1>\n

One of the last great road trips on the planet, the highest paved road in the world that snakes between the 8,000-meter peaks of the Himalayas, connecting Pakistan and China: ladies and gentlemen, here is the Karakoram Highway! After a stop at Wagah for the chaotic flag ceremony at the Pakistan-India border, we will depart from crowded Lahore\u2014one of the most beautiful and charismatic cities in Pakistan and all of Asia\u2014for a fantastic road trip. We will first travel along the historic Grand Trunk Road and through the Swat Valley, eventually merging onto the legendary Karakoram: it will be a memorable journey among the highest peaks on Earth, during which we will touch the sky at the base camp of the legendary Nanga Parbat, before sleeping in tents facing the snow-capped walls of Rakaposhi. Finally, we will reach the remote Khunjerab Pass, the highest border crossing in the world (4,634 m) between Pakistan and China.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

KALASH UCHAL FESTIVAL Extension<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/h2>\n

One of the great dreams for travelers who love people and traditions: the Kalash and the Uchal festival! After finishing the journey along the Karakoram, we will move to the Kalash valleys to get a close look at this ethnic group, with its customs and ancestral origins that remain mysterious. We will live for two days in complete harmony with the locals, participating in celebrations, songs, dances, and sacrifices to thank the Uchal deities for the recently completed harvest\u2014totally immersed in the local folklore and the ancient, intact traditions of the Kalash people!<\/p>\n

TRIP TYPE<\/h2>\n
Very intense road trip, with long days of travel at high altitudes in a 1970s minibus. Several treks of varying difficulty and length are planned, which can be adapted according to each person’s physical condition. Nanga Parbat and Rakaposhi base camps require excellent physical preparation. Hotel and service standards are variable, especially in more remote areas.<\/div>\n
