BELARUS
One of the most closed, least talked about, and most controversial destinations in Europe: Belarus! A complex country, often misunderstood and difficult to access, where time seems to have stood still and where the Soviet legacy is still deeply visible in daily life, architecture, and culture. We enter by land to discover a reality unlike any other on the continent: the monumentality of Minsk, the UNESCO castles of Mir and Nesvizh, the memories of the Second World War, and the suspended atmospheres of the exclusion zone. After days of history and urban contexts, we move to an opposite experience: silence, nature, and wildlife. The pace changes completely in the primordial forest of Białowieża, where we enter one of the last pristine natural environments in Europe for a sunrise safari in search of European bison.
The BHS touch
The Belarusian exclusion zone, but not in its “tourist” version. The Polesie State Radioecological Reserve is a closed and controlled area where access is permitted only with special permits. We will work directly with the scientific staff of the research center, delving concretely into the consequences of the nuclear disaster. We will analyze the territory with specialized instruments, monitoring radiation levels alongside experts, and observe closely how, in the absence of humans, nature has reclaimed control. In just a few decades, the zone has become a unique ecosystem with an extraordinary presence of wildlife: bison, wolves, and Przewalski’s horses. Alongside this, the journey also enters the military dimension at the Stalin Line, where history is experienced firsthand: exploring bunkers and outposts, and for those who wish, it is even possible to drive military vehicles or fire from a tank.
KALININGRAD EXTENSION
A territory that shouldn’t exist, and for that very reason, so fascinating: Kaliningrad! A Russian enclave nestled between Poland and Lithuania, separated from the rest of Russia but deeply tied to its identity. A borderland, suspended between past and present, where Prussian heritage, Soviet history, and contemporary geopolitical dynamics intertwine. But Kaliningrad is not just the city: a few kilometers away lies the Curonian Spit (Neringa Peninsula), one of the most surprising natural areas of the Baltic. Sand dunes, forests, and villages suspended between the sea and the lagoon create a landscape completely different from the urban one.

Travel itinerary
DAY 1: ITALY – GDANSK
Morning / Afternoon: departure from Italy with an international flight to Gdansk, a port city overlooking the Baltic Sea and historically linked to the trade and conflicts of Northern Europe. Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Free time depending on flight schedules for a first stroll through the historic center, among Hanseatic buildings, canals, and squares rebuilt after the Second World War
Evening: dinner and overnight stay in Gdansk
DAY 2: GDANSK – KALININGRAD
Morning and afternoon: departure from Gdansk towards Kaliningrad. Entry into Kaliningrad and arrival in the city. Beginning of the city tour: Soviet buildings, remains of ancient Königsberg, and new constructions coexist in the same urban space. We will cross the main areas of the center, understanding the historical and political evolution of the city
Evening: dinner and overnight stay in Kaliningrad
DAY 3 – NERINGA PENINSULA (CURONIAN SPIT)
Morning and afternoon: departure for the Neringa Peninsula, a thin strip of sand nearly 100 km long, a UNESCO World Heritage site, which separates the Baltic Sea from the lagoon. During the transfer, we progressively enter a completely different natural environment: dunes, forests, and isolated villages. Exploration of the peninsula among its most iconic points: the great shifting dunes, among the highest in Europe, the “dancing forest” with trees deformed by the wind, and fishing villages with traditional architecture
Evening: return to Kaliningrad, dinner and overnight stay
DAY 4: KALININGRAD – VILNIUS
Morning: last hours in Kaliningrad and departure towards Lithuania. New border crossing, exiting Russia and re-entering the European Union. Continuation towards Vilnius through rural landscapes and less touristy regions of the Baltics. Arrival in Vilnius and hotel check-in. Depending on the arrival time, free time to explore the Lithuanian capital.
Evening: dinner and overnight stay in Vilnius
Morning / Afternoon: departure from Italy with an international flight to Vilnius. Arrival in the Lithuanian capital and transfer to the hotel. Depending on the flight schedule, free time to explore the city
Evening: dinner and overnight stay in Vilnius
Morning and afternoon: departure towards the Belarusian border. We progressively leave the Western European context to approach a more closed and less accessible reality. Arrival at the border and crossing through security checks: a key moment of the trip, where the transition between two different worlds is clearly felt, not only geographically but also politically and culturally. Entry into Belarus and continuation towards Minsk. Arrival in Minsk and first approach to the city. Among grand avenues, monumental buildings, Soviet architecture, and very wide urban spaces. The city appears orderly, almost scenographic, with an identity very different from the more well-known European capitals
Evening: dinner and overnight stay in Minsk
Morning and afternoon: early departure from Minsk to reach the Belarusian exclusion zone, an area subject to restrictions and accessible only with special permits and an authorized guide. Entry into the controlled area and briefing on the rules of conduct. Exploration of a territory completely frozen in time. Evacuated villages, abandoned buildings, and nature slowly reclaiming human spaces. We will observe houses left intact, schools, public structures, and infrastructure that tell the story of a life suddenly interrupted. The silence and the absence of human presence make the experience very intense. In-depth look at the historical context, the nuclear accident, and the long-term consequences for the population and the territory.
Evening: return to Minsk in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay.
Morning: departure towards the Stalin Line, an open-air military museum. The site allows you to physically enter Soviet defensive structures, including bunkers, trenches, and military vehicles. The experience is interactive: it is possible to board vehicles, explore the outposts and, for those interested, participate in extra activities (bookable on-site) such as the shooting range or driving military vehicles.
Afternoon: a total change of scenery with a transfer to the Mir and Nesvizh castles, both UNESCO World Heritage sites. Here we enter a completely different dimension: aristocratic architecture, decorated palaces, gardens, and history linked to European nobility. The visit provides an understanding of the region’s more “Western” past, in contrast to the Soviet narrative seen previously.
Evening: dinner and overnight stay in Baranovici or the surrounding area.
Morning and afternoon: departure towards the Białowieża Forest, one of the oldest and best-preserved ecosystems in Europe. During the transfer, the landscape progressively changes: fewer cities, more nature, isolated villages, and vast green expanses. Entry into the National Park and start of a light trek along one of the trails.
Evening: dinner and overnight stay in the surroundings of the park.
Morning: wake up at dawn for a morning outing in the forest, the best time to observe the local wildlife. With a little luck, it is possible to spot the European bison, the symbol of the park.
Afternoon: departure towards Brest with a stop in Kamyenyets, a small town with historical architecture and an authentic local atmosphere. Arrival in Brest and start of the visit. A border city with a unique identity, marked by its strategic position. Visit to the Brest Fortress, one of the most important sites of Soviet memory, linked to the resistance during the Nazi invasion.
Evening: dinner and overnight stay in Brest
Morning and afternoon: departure towards the Polish border. Exit from Belarus and another border crossing, this time in the opposite direction. Transfer towards Warsaw. Arrival and, depending on border processing times, free time to explore the city or simply relax after the intense days just experienced.
Evening: dinner and overnight stay in Warsaw
Morning and afternoon: transfer to the airport for your flight back to Italy and… until the next adventure!
