SOCOTRA
Desert island, lost paradise: it is easy to fall into clichés when talking about Socotra. What is certain is that Socotra is a truly unique island in the world. What makes it so special is its isolation, which has contributed to the development of endemic animal and plant species with bizarre shapes, such as the dragon’s blood tree and the bottle tree, and which gives the island a magical aura, as if it belonged to another world, another era. Deserted beaches, among the most beautiful on our planet, towering white sand dunes, canyons, and colorful valleys dotted with natural pools and small remote villages will offer us unique images and experiences that we will carry with us for a lifetime.
The BHS touch
This will not be a 5-star trip: in Socotra there are no hotels or electricity outside Hadibo. We will experience the island in an essential and authentic way, camping in tents in the most remote and untouched places. One of the most iconic moments of the trip will be the night on Shoab beach, reachable only by boat: a stretch of sand completely isolated, with no villages or infrastructure, where we will sleep right by the ocean, accompanied only by the sound of the waves and the starry sky. A wild, unfiltered experience to explore Socotra in its purest state.

Evening: first sunset on the island, dinner and overnight in tents, under one of the clearest starry skies on the planet.
Morning: Wake up at sunrise and depart for the dunes of Arher, one of the most iconic places in Socotra: an impressive white sand dune that flows directly into the ocean, next to a freshwater oasis. Time to explore the area and enjoy the morning light. Continue east and trek to Hoq Cave: hike to the entrance and then explore the inside of the limestone cave, over 3 km long, rich in stalactites, stalagmites, and underground pools.
Afternoon: Transfer to the protected area of Homhil, a barren and panoramic plateau. Hike to the famous natural infinity pool, suspended over the eastern coast of the island, with views of the ocean. Walk among incense trees and first sightings of the iconic dragon’s blood tree, the ultimate symbol of Socotra.
Evening: Dinner and overnight in a tented camp in Homhil, immersed in the silence of the plateau.
Morning: Departure towards the southern coast of the island. Stop and trek in Wadi Kalissan, famous for its emerald-colored natural pools carved into the limestone. Time to walk and swim.
Afternoon: Continue along dirt tracks to Dagub Cave, overlooking the ocean, and then arrive at the spectacular Steroh dunes, where the desert meets the sea in one of Socotra’s most surreal landscapes.
Evening: Dinner and overnight in a tented camp on Steroh beach.
Morning: Wake up on the beach and depart towards the mountainous interior of the island. Ascend the Diksam plateau, with spectacular views over deep gorges and the arid central plateau.
Afternoon: Visit to the Fermhin forest, the area with the highest concentration of dragon’s blood trees in the world, an iconic and almost surreal landscape. Walk among the trees and meet local shepherds. Descent to the Wadi Dirhur oasis, with its natural pools set among rocky cliffs. Time for relaxation and swimming.
