IRAQ
A journey through Iraq is a journey through the very origins of human civilisation. Between the fertile plains shaped by the Tigris River and the Euphrates River rose some of the world’s earliest empires, whose legacy still echoes through the ruins of Babylon, the majestic Arch of Ctesiphon, and the mysterious ziggurat of Great Ziggurat of Ur. Iraq is also a sacred land for Shia Islam, home to the holy cities of Najaf and Karbala, spiritual epicenters of immense religious significance. At the same time, it is a country deeply marked by modern history, decades of wars, occupations, and resilience that have left profound scars, but also an enduring spirit of rebirth. This extraordinary journey will take us from south to north across the heart of Mesopotamia: from the enchanting marshlands of southern Iraq to the mountains of Kurdistan Region, passing through the vibrant energy of Baghdad and Mosul, cities where the memory of the past and hope for the future exist side by side in a delicate and fascinating balance.
