LEBANON

A journey through Lebanon is a journey between sea and mountains, tradition and modernity, sacred and secular worlds. Complex and layered, the country is deeply cosmopolitan yet marked by a recent history of conflicts and crises. This 9-day road trip begins in Beirut, one of the most charismatic cities in the Middle East, once nicknamed the “Paris of the Middle East.” From the capital, the route heads south along the ancient Phoenician coast before climbing into the inland mountains, home to Druze and Christian communities. The journey continues through the Bekaa Valley, the country’s agricultural heartland and a region deeply affected by recent clashes, where the landscape reveals a Lebanon far from the spotlight. Before reaching Tripoli, the itinerary crosses the spectacular Qadisha Valley, known for its steep canyons, cliffside monasteries, and cedar forests. After a stop in Batroun, between Mediterranean atmosphere and vibrant nightlife, the journey returns toward Beirut via Byblos, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, and Harissa, with panoramic views over the Lebanese coast. The trip ends back in Beirut with a deeper exploration of the city and a visit to the Shatila refugee camp, offering insight into one of the most complex chapters of Lebanon’s contemporary history.
