TRANS-AMAZONIAN

This expedition follows one of the most iconic rivers on Earth: the Amazon River, crossing Peru, Colombia and Brazil through the heart of the rainforest. The journey begins in Iquitos, in the Peruvian Amazon, before entering the extraordinary Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve, a vast protected area of flooded forests and hidden waterways. Here it is possible to encounter pink river dolphins, caimans and countless tropical bird species. The expedition continues along the river through remote indigenous communities and isolated villages where life still follows the rhythms of nature. One of the highlights is several days navigating the Amazon aboard a traditional Brazilian riverboat, observing daily life unfolding along the banks of the world’s largest river. The adventure concludes in Manaus, the great Amazonian metropolis surrounded by jungle, where the dark waters of the Rio Negro meet the sandy waters of the Amazon at the famous Meeting of Waters.

PANTANAL EXTENSION

An unforgettable extension into the heart of the Pantanal, the largest tropical wetland ecosystem on Earth and one of the best wildlife observation regions in South America. Between river safaris, boat excursions and nature walks, the journey explores an extraordinary environment inhabited by jaguars, caimans, capybaras and hundreds of species of tropical birds. Immersed in the most authentic side of Brazil, each day offers close contact with untouched wilderness, dramatic sunsets reflected on endless waterways, and the unique atmosphere of one of the planet’s richest ecosystems.

The BHS touch

For many travellers, the Amazon experience is limited to a lodge stay near Manaus. This journey, instead, is conceived as a true tribute to the Amazon River itself: an expedition unfolding entirely by river, navigating more than 2,000 kilometres through the heart of the rainforest. Rather than simply visiting the Amazon, the experience immerses travellers in its rhythms, myths and ancestral atmosphere, crossing remote villages, hidden waterways and untouched landscapes where nature still dictates the rules of life. The expedition becomes a deep encounter with the Amazonian world: slow navigation, wildlife observation, encounters with local communities and complete immersion in one of the wildest and most powerful environments on Earth.

Rio de Janeiro extension

After a complete immersion in the Amazon rainforest, the journey changes rhythm entirely and moves to Rio de Janeiro, one of the most iconic and scenic cities in the world. Here nature does not disappear, it transforms itself into dramatic mountains rising directly from the ocean, urban forests, legendary beaches and one of the most recognisable skylines on the planet. The extension includes visits to landmarks such as Sugarloaf Mountain and Christ the Redeemer, offering breathtaking perspectives over the city and the Atlantic coast. The experience also explores more authentic dimensions of Rio, including areas such as Rocinha, to better understand the city’s social and cultural realities beyond its postcard image. For active travellers, panoramic hikes such as Pedra da Gávea and Dois Irmãos provide unforgettable views where jungle, mountains and ocean merge together. This extension complements the Amazon expedition by adding an urban, cultural and landscape dimension that is completely different, yet equally intense.
